Privacy policy

Plain language: what we collect, why, and how to stop hearing from us.

Effective September 11, 2026

Who we are

This website is operated by Forest Hayes for Virginia ("we," "us"). Questions about this policy can go to fhayes@foresthayes.com.

What we collect

  • What you give us — your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, and preferred language when you sign up, volunteer, or contact us.
  • Contribution information — contributions are processed by ActBlue. We never see or store your card number. Virginia law requires us to collect and report each contributor's name and address, and the occupation and employer of anyone giving more than $100 in a calendar year.
  • Browser storage — this site saves small settings in your browser: your language choice and whether you've already seen our welcome page. They stay on your device.

How we use it

To send you updates about Forest's work, invite you to events, ask for your support, connect you with volunteers near your ZIP code, and meet our legal reporting obligations.

Text messages

If you check the box and give us your mobile number, you agree to receive recurring automated campaign and donation text messages from Forest Hayes for Virginia. Consent is not a condition of any contribution. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time; reply HELP for help.

We will not share your mobile number or text-message opt-in with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the campaign (for example, our email, text-message, and payment processors), who may use it only on our behalf — and where the law requires it, such as the contribution reports we must file, which are public records.

Your choices

  • Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
  • Reply STOP to any text to stop texts.
  • Email fhayes@foresthayes.com to update or remove your information.
  • Clear your browser's site data to remove the settings this site stores on your device.

Children

This site isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
